is this cause workflow isn’t easy to setup? Could we create a wizard
to aid this setup, I hate to allow anything that will work poorly or
even break in the future. Just curious of the pros here.

Remove dependency on workflow, it will work (poorly) without.

Couple reasons:

Workflow is not included in the default eGW install, you have to
get it from SVN
Manufacturing does work without it (we’ve been doing so for a
couple of months), you just don’t get as much control. The entire
build is done in one shot, with no possibility for any interaction.
Workflow can be difficult to set up, and must be done in addition
to inventory locations, work centers, and bills of materials.

So manufacturing does work without workflow, for simple builds with no
serialized components.
If you have optional paths, serialized components you need to record,
or want better information on where things are, you need workflow.
