Redistribute LDAP address book over carddav

I have tested egroupware CE from aug 11.

I have set up so you can log in with ldap accounts i egroupware as well as see the people in LDAP and their info when opening the web based egroupware address book.

Setting up sync from the iPhone works ok for private address books. But the address book with the global contacts is named “Accounts” and cannot be synced with the phone.

Is this standard behavior?
Is there a solution to it ?

Hi,

I am afraid it is, as soon as you select any carddav sync url that is different from default.

However:

http://yourdomain.tld/groupdav.php/
or
http://yourdomain.tld/groupdav.php/addressbook/

will give you whatever you set up in the groupdav syny preferences: I have mine set to “All-in’One”.
You also have to set “Hide Accounts” to FALSE in the Addressbook forced preferences. Otherwise accounts will always be hidden.

Something that drives me nuts is the fact that accounts will be hidden from Carddav, as soon as you give a URL to a specific address book:

http://yourdomain.tld/groupdav.php/userX/addressbook/

will never return accounts. Which in a way makes sensde, because accounts are system addresses in a way, not user addresses.
However, if you chose only to see a specific addressbook, it is very much useful to have the accounts too, most of the time.

I am wondering whether there is (or could be introduced) a feature to access those accounts with

http://yourdomain.tld/groupdav.php/accounts/addressbook/

Can’t you add two carddav client accounts on different URL:s (one user and one global) and have them in a merged view in the client?

No, the account flag is for all address books.
My situation is that I am having group contacts ad private contacts.

if I use http://mydomain.tld/groupdav.php/addressbook/

I will get all private and group contacts INCLUDING the accounts.
That’s not what you always want, because sometimes you have to move contacts from personal (the default add to list) to the group address book. However, creating those two
address lists separately. will not include all account users.

This is particularly annoying in KDE 4.7 where the akonadi server automatically generates birthday events in organiser for your contacts. This doubles all birthdays up when you
subscribe to any additional list other than the default (the one including the accounts).

all group addresses only

http://mydomain.tld/groupdav.php/username/addressbook/

But there is nothing to only get the accounts only.

I use LDAP as a user source and filter out the wanted users in a search filter specified in egroupware. Probably not usable at all for you. Don’t know yet if I can do more here…
