Retrieving data from custom set selectboxes

I’ve learned (thanks Nathan & Ralf) how to set custom select boxes in addressbook.
Here’s how

In class.uicontacts.php , under Function Edit do:
$sel_options[‘name’] = array(
"’’ => ‘None’,
‘red’ => ‘Red’,
‘blue’ => ‘Blue’,
);
If name is present as a db table, the selected value will get stored it there.
…but it won’t get retrieved.
So i suppose we need some sort of call in Function view of the same file.
Can someone help out?

Hi,

I regret answering in the first place, as this is only leading you into
a dead end (non updatable eGroupware).

As Nathan suggested, use custom fields!

If you want to place them in all tabs and not just a custom field tab,
remove that tab. The custom field widget can also display a single
widget (compared to all cf widgets together). These single widgets can
be placed where ever you like.

Documentations about the cf widget is in the header of
etemplate/inc/class.customfield_widget.inc.php. You might need to use
the trunk/1.6 version, as I’m not sure this stuff got backported to good
old 1.4.

I believe you are right about custom field.
I will follow this path.
One last question.
You are referring to 1.6 which seems to be improved in the custom field area.
Is it stable enough to be used in production?
i’m doing a fairly standard use of egroupware, but is worth asking considering is a Pre…

Hi Frank,

it’s a difficult question.

If you use it reasonable, it probably is.

With reasonable I mean:

before every update, make a backup of
a) the old sources
b) the database
c) the files
either test yourself, or just wait 2-3 days and watch the lists,
before using a newer version

An other easy possibility is to use our hosting: you will have a pretty
up to date version without any hassle and you can always complain if
something is not working

I think trunk is pretty much stable. At least we are on our way to make it
that way to meet our goal
to present the RC1 for 1.6 by August 30th.
