Running egroupware on a subdomain

I’m hosting egroupware on DigitalOcean. Installation went fine. I can access it by going directly to my public IP address and I can login. I’d like to run it from a subdomain though and install an SSL cert.

I have already updated DNS records to point subdomain.domain.com to DigitalOcean (main domain is hosted elsewhere).

I changed the location of EGroupware’s URL on the settings page to subdomain.domain.com - didn’t work.

I was going to create a virtual host file for Apache but I don’t know where the egroupware files are served from (I checked in /var/www) or even whether I should do it in the first place.

What’s my next step?

It should not be difficult to configure eGroupware to be accessible using:
https://egroupware.example.com or https://mygroup.example.com
(or anything else you want to use)

But, eGroupware is not just a set of HTML-files, it’s written in PHP.
Which version are you using and how did you install it?

I run eGroupware in docker and have NGINX set up as a reverse proxy pointing to it.

I’ve made a mistake by installing egroupware on a fresh server. I dropped that instance and started from scratch.

This time, I installed Apache, PHP, MySQL and docker, configured the firewall (ufw), created a virtual host file, installed an SSL certificate and then only installed egroupware.
