Selectbox in addressbook

I’ve looked everywhere but it’s still not very clear to me how to setup a custom selectbox in addressbook.edit.
This is what i understood:

You need to declare an array inside class “class boetemplate extends soetemplate” in class.boetemplate.inc.php with all the array option values
eg: var $Hearcolor = array (
’’ => ‘select one’,
‘blonde’ => ‘blonde’,
‘red’ => ‘red’,
‘blue’ => ‘blue’
);
You need to call that function in class.uitemplate.inc.php (how? where?)

Where would it appear after? There would be a voice more in etemplate for me to select ?
Could someone explain with a practicle , simple example?

Have you tried Admin -> Addressbook -> Custom fields?
That is by far the easiest way to add a custom field, because you
don’t have to change code or templates.

Thanks Natan.
I’m really try to add a select box in one of the other tabs in addressbook.event so customfield won’t do it.
I’ve read everywhere , for hours, but i must admit i’m no php guru. At the same time it can’t be all that hard.
Could you do me a quick , simple example on where to modify $content or $sel_options in order to display a simple drop down menu in one of the tabs (but not the extra one)in addressbook?
I’m sure this would be helpful to many.

addressbook_ui::edit():

$sel_options[‘color’] = array(
’’ => ‘None’,
‘red’ => ‘Red’,
‘blue’ => ‘Blue’,
);

then add as selectbox with name ‘color’ (without quotes) to
addressbook.edit (or one of it’s tabs).

Ralf, i really appreciate your help, but please bear with all inexperts php users here…

I’m not too sure in which class/file i need to add that static call.

I don’t have a class.addressbook_ui.inc.php and is not in the original .tar i’ve downloaded !!!
I’m using Egroupware 1.4.

Do i need to create it ?
If so how?
