Selectbox - onChange - not passing parameters

Hi,

I’m developing a very small application for myself and I want a Selectbox to change the form (depending on the option I choose). So I tryed the “onChange - Submit” but that submission doesn’t send info about anything else other than editable form parts.

The app just records visits I make to clients. When I visit a client I need to know WHO is he, but if i don’t make that info an editable widget I lose the info as soon as I use the Selectbox.

If someone could give me a way to send that extra parameter I whould be very thankfull.

Hi,

you can not mix eTemplate with other (non-eTemplate) html form elements,
as eTemplate allways returns only the registered UI elements (that one
of the strong security measures build into it).

Why do you want to mix anyway?

You can of cause find your other input elements in $_POST, but you loose
/ compromise the security implemented by eTemplate.

Thx for the answer Ralf.

I don’t want to mix, I just want a variable to stay setted when the submit happens, but egw just keep the active input elements setted.

I might be explaining it bad, lets make an example:
Client ID: 4
Select box: Type of shoes

4 is a label and “Type of shoes” a select box with (“No shoes”,“Sport”, etc).
If I select “No shoes” I want a text input to appear to write WHY the client has no shoes.

The problem:
When I use the “Submitt onChange” feature of the Selectbox, I lose the client ID, because it’s a label. If I make the ID a text input, active it stays when the submit happends, but i dont want it to be editable, and if I make it readonly I lose it too.

Check the $preserv parameter of etemplate::exec() that’s what you are
searching. Label are never submitted back.
