Setting up

I’m an absolute beginner.
I’m installing eGW 1.2-105 on Debian etch.
Your temporary directory ‘’ does non exist
Your files directory ‘’ does non exist
I create a \tmp and \files with full access to everyone. I insert full path (eg. \usr\gw\tmp)
Can anyone help me to start?

Simple

first go to the configuration page
http://yoursite/egroupware/setup/config.php and log into the
"Setup/Config Admin Login" section

now there u can see the directory structure of tmp and files for
egroupware. either create the directory structure as shown there with
the correct permission or create some modified dir structure as u
like and mention it in the path section of the setting.
that’s all

first go to the configuration page
ok
http://yoursite/egroupware/setup/config.php and log into the
"Setup/Config Admin Login" section
ok

now there u can see the directory structure of tmp and files for egroupware.
now I am in “Setup -Domain” page, it ask me enter full path for temporary files (my input: /usr/gw/tmp I created it before full access to everyone) and for user and group files (my input: /usr/gw/file I created it before full access to everyone)
I input also. groupware url: /egroupware
hostname: frogstarb
pop imap: frogstarb
I click on Save button.
It open a completely white page.

When I go again in “setup main menu” I read:
Your temporary dir ‘’ does not exist
Your files dir ‘’ does not exist
Your backup dir ‘’ does not exist

when i go to:" http:\frogstarb\egroupware" i read

Warning: mb_strstr() [function.mb-strstr]: Empty haystack in /usr/share/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.egw_db.inc.php on line 1633

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class datetime in /usr/share/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.datetime.inc.php on line 45

well, it seems that still there is a path problem in your setting. what
is your OS ?
I am in Suse 10.1 and the directory structure of egroupware is like
/var/lib/egroupware
/var/lib/egroupware/infoservices.in
/var/lib/egroupware/infoservices.in/backup
var/lib/egroupware/infoservices.in/files
var/lib/egroupware/infoservices.in/files/home

the url I have is http://egw where egw is a virtual host in my apache

Well, I am in. it seems to work.
I have eGW 1.2-105 on Debian etch.
I install “php 4” instead of “php 5”. If you ask me why, i don’t know, I feel it.

I hope now I can start study: Linux, apache, php, mysql, egroupware.
