[SOLVED] Bad TimeZone?

I have version 1.8.001 running in combination with Thunderbird 5.0 + Lightning 1.0b5. CalDav is running and everything worked fine for a day. Now when I open my TB it prompts me for the user name and it accepts it… but about a minute later I get this error message: A username and password are being requested by https://blahblahblah. The site says: “An error happened DateTimeZone::__construct() [datetimezone.–construct]: Unknown or bad timezone ()”

I’ve checked the server and my PC for the timezone and they are both identical. What does this mean?

To trigger a new authorization is the only way an error-message can be
delivered in CalDAV. Your Apache error_log should have a more detailed
description of the problem including a trace.

I’ve checked the server and my PC for the timezone and they are both
identical. What does this mean?

It’s probably caused by a timezone not known to the server.

I got the same error,

when trying to save an entry in calendar.

I specified Asia/Calcutta instead of Asia/Kolkata

is that the reason ?

Where should i look for the solution ?

No, the problem is NOT the timezone you correctly specified, but the one
your device is sending or you are trying to import.

You could create ‘Asia/Kolkata’ as alias for ‘Asia/Calcutta’:

SELECT tz_id FROM egw_timezones WHERE tz_tzid=‘Asia/Calcutta’

Then use the nummeric id to create the alias (replace 1234 with the id
you found with the query above).

INSERT INTO egw_cal_timezones
(tz_tzid,tz_alias) VALUES (‘Asia/Kolkata’,1234)

Maybe we should silently substitute unknown timezones with the users one.

Just check we have “Asia/Kolkata” as timezone in the current timezone
database. Maybe yours is NOT up to date.

Sure you are using the current 1.8.002?

If not you should update anyway, as 1.8.002 is also a security update.

Ohh…

i am using older version 1.8.001.

couldn’t find tables u specified in current installation.

its live site now,so have to plan downtime before upgrading.

Hope to solve the issue after upgrading.

I upgraded it on a live site (but I am using the Ubuntu repo, on Natty Server)
and all I needed to do was log out and log in again to get the correct version;
After the apt-get upgrade finished, upon log in to setup area, all modules were
of correct version already.

All it does system-wide is replacing some PEAR modules and reload apache config.

(My site is not that heavy in traffic that must be said, though)

Ok,

sir,now i have upgraded version running for another portal.

say,my default timezone is Asia/Calcutta.

but when users try save a private event in calendar they get

An error happened

DateTimeZone::__construct(): Unknown or bad timezone (Asia/Kolkata)

But , that event still gets saved in calendar.

now as u said,i checked egw_cal_timezone
there were two entries in table,
on id : 123 timezone :kolkata
on id: 456 timezone:calcutta:alias:123

so i just tried copying entries of kolkata to calcutta.
but still, don’t know why get this error ?

i was changing in bkp. table.
