Hi,
Hello all.
I am trying to import eGroupware 1.4.004-2 data and files (from Debian
Linux) to a new server (Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS) with eGroupware 1.8.004.
The step what am I doing are:
-
Install fresh eGroupware 1.8.004
-
Copy files to /var/lib/egroupware path with “www-data” owner and group
pemissions
-
Setting header.inc.php file: DB type “MySQL (deprecated)” instead of
"MySQLi (recommended, incl. transaction)", because “MySQLi (recommended,
incl. transaction)” not work
-
In “Setup/Config Admin” I import 1.4.004-2 database file
(db_backup-201308190840.bz2) and I get a message:
You appear to be running version 1.4.004 of eGroupWare.
We will automatically update your tables/records to 1.8.004 but we highly
recommend backing up your tables in case the script causes damage to your
data.
so I “Upgrade” and then a get an errors:
process->pass(): #1 for upgrade processing
process->upgrade(): Incoming : appname: phpgwapi, version: 1.4.004, status:

The problem is with all files, containing whitespace and letters “ą”, “ę”,
“ł”… in name.
For this reason it is not possible to download files in eGW. It is possible
to import that files to eGroupware 1.8.004?
I think your problem is, that old Debian box used iso-8859-1 encoding
for your files, while the new box uses utf-8.
You should check after copying files over from the old box, files show
correct names on command line.
If you have to change EGroupware charset from iso to utf-8, it will get
even more tricky …
It might be easier to run the 1.8 update or a 1.6 update on the old box,
as 1.6 update removes literal file names having encoding issues to just
numbers.
Or ask our sales people for an offer to migrate you to our hosting
