[SOLVED] iPhone OS 4 CalDAV Configuration

With regard to setting up CalDAV on IOS4 the configuration (Account URL) has change slightly from the iPhone OS 3.1 or iPad OS 3.2.

Instead of using:
https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar

Use:
https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php

I have no idea if https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar worked with earlier versions of IOS however, I know it definitely does not with IOS4.

Hi,

Effectively when I try to add : https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar
it gives me an error like "account could not be verified"
and with : https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php
I have no errors and the account settings are then saved …
But …
When I go to the Calendar App, no CalDAV calendar appears … (only shows the “standard” calendars “Home” “Work” …)
So I think it is just a way to bypass the iphone web service check and that’s all, it does not allows to get CalDAV working …

So of course, it is NOT SOLVED !

I didn’t have the problem you described once I change to the new URL https://www.example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php. Did you have a working CalDAV on your iPhone prior to IOS 4?

I am having the same problem as Ulysse31.

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 and the latest packages from the egroupware binaries repository (1.6.003-2).

When the iPhone 3GS with newly updated iOS4 tries to contact http://example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar it is unable to verify account information but http://example.com/egroupware/groupdav.php is ok. However, no calendar information is retrieved.

The apache access log shows:

“PROPFIND /egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar/ HTTP/1.1” 207 1437 “-” “DAVKit/5.0 (764); iCalendar/5.0 (78); iPhone/4.0 8A293”

So it must be accessing the “/calendar/” url correctly - but no data is downloaded or uploaded.

I have confirmed the calendar URL is working via Thunderbird/Sunbird.

I don’t think this has any significance but I’m running eGroupWare 1.6.003 on Fedora 13. After reviewing my iPhone Calendar/Account Configuration a couple things come to mind.

My eGroupware account name does not have the domain appended. I recall before I discovered the alternate URL I was trying anything and everything to get it to work. Not sure if this means anything other than it is setup differently than I would have expected it to be.

When troubleshooting I also saw several threads on various forums where calendars were not syncing when the calendar was setup to sync all events. In checking my calendar setting mine is set for Events 6 months back.

The last thing I would recommend is try deleting the Calendar Account and recreating.

Here is my iPhone Account Setup

Server: www.example.com
User Name: johnsmith
Password: *******

Advanced Settings >

Use SSL: Enabled
Port: 443
Account URL: https://www.example.com:443/egroupware/groupdav.php

Within eGroupWare I have both groupdav and syncml permissions. Out side of this everything else is standard setup/configuration.

Hi tarantir thanks for responding.

I think another big difference between your testing and mine is that I have not yet set up a ssl certificate.

I cannot test anything else until tonight though so I shall report my findings then.

Today I tested the daily-snapshot of egroupware and the URL
/egroupware/groupdav.php/calendar is verifying (again) for iOS4 iphone.
However, the existing entries do not show up on the iphone calendar.
Any new entries created on the phone are uploaded to the server but any
edits at the server end (of iphone generated entries) are not reflected
on the phone.

Any update on the solution of accessing Egroupware caldav from the iphone with IOS4 installed? Mine was working perfectly until I upgraded to IOS4.
The caldav account verifies with the settings given in the previous emails but the calendar is not available for selection in the Calendar app on the iphone. I have deleted all other accounts on the iphone, to no avail. I have EGW 1.6002.
