We are very happy to release today three new open source applications
for eGroupware, with the hope to have others in the future…
SpiCademic
The SpiCademic application is developed for users/researchers to report
their publications and academic actions (articles, books, thesis …).
The application should be comprehensive and versatile enough to cover
all “outputs” of a research center : publications but also trainings,
conferences, symposiums, etc. This should facilitate internal
communication and monthly/yearly reporting in some organizations…

SpiSession
The application SpiSession completes eGroupware with a collaborative
tool to manage (internal) trainings : course catalog, sessions and
registrations. The module was first developped for internal sessions but
could be used for regular or exceptionnal events where the calendar is
not adapted. The users may register by themselves to sessions, the
managers may confirm the registrations. Every change is notified by
email. There are pdf extracts for a session or a list of sessions and
many other features…

SpireAPI
The module SpireAPI is an application to store/call common functions and
common referentials we could not found with eGroupware but still would
like to share amongst (our) applications. It is a requirement for
SpiSession but also could be used and improved by developpers…

In these modules, most referentials and rules are dynamic so you might
well have a different usage as the one they were created for…
These modules :
- should work with eGroupware 1.8.004 (mysql/ldap) (tested on
Linux/Apache/PHP 5.3.3)
- are coded within eGroupware coding rules as much as possible, and with
eTemplate,
- are open source (same GPL licence as eGroupware),
- are available in English and French.
Translations are welcome and we shall integrate the translation files we
may receive for the next versions.
