“cookiedomain” is an optional configuration one can set, to explicitly
specify the domain of the cookie used by EGroupware.
You must have set it to the value given as example in the docu 
It has no meaning if session-id is NOT stored in a cookie, but it’s
never set automatically.

In my corrupted install I had in config:
app name value
phpgwapi cookiedomain .domain.com
I removed this and my sessions worked again.
I suspect that it has something to do with set “usecookies” value. I set it
to true at install.

Well I did not give up. I wipped the install clean then created a new
user and I was in. Once i reloaded the backup again… same error. I
have been stepping through the login code for a few hours this morning. I
have also been analyzing the php sessions. I must be nearly there but not
yet… but something is defiantly wrong with the configuration of my
install and this revision.
This install is for a friend and is on a hosted machine so i do not have
access to the Apache logs :-(.
I will have another look tuesday. I did notice another post a few days
ago with this same error.

First of all: have you already tried to delete the cookie (or
alternatively the session files on the server). This has a huge impact,
since we store the objects in the session.
If that does not help, I can only recommend to go back in step to the
last working revision, to find which revision actually broke your
system.
