We could extend our custom fields definition with a vCard name. Custom
fields with vCard name, could be automatically added to the
SyncML/CardDV/vCard export definitions.
I could also imagine a configuration for SyncML/CardDAV to automatically
add a custom field for every unknown vCard field send by a client. Admin
could then modify the label to make it more meaningful for their users.
If custom fields are used for that purpose, we dont need to modify the
database model nor the user interface.

my S60 Handy (Nokia 5800) has the following data fields for phone numbers:
Telefon privat = home phone
Telefon dienstlich = office phone
Telefon (plain) = phone
The same goes for email, addresses etc.
Not all of these fields have corresponding ones in eGroupware which means
that data doesn’t sync properly and eventually gets lost. The phone default
is always “phone” or “mobile” without any home or office - so many of my
contacts are that way and hence get messed up when sync’ed.
In Horde there is a way to extend the address book with the missing fields.
It required changing the database and the user interface (but is possible
-http://edeca.net/wp/2010/01/modifying-fields-in-the-turba-addressbook/)
I did so and it works for me. But I like eGroupware much more than Horde
. Is there a way to add new fields to the eGroupware address book? Do they
get sync’ed?
Probably it would make sence to add the fields altogether as there are quite
a few S60 phones out there (what about other phone address books?)
Thanks for help in advance
