Syncml + nokia e51 + egroupware

Hello,

currently I have trouble synchronizing a nokia e51 via syncml with
egroupware.
When opening rpc.php in the browser no error message gets displayed but the
usual note that this page should be accessed by a syncml client.

In the apache logs I can see the phone accessing the server. When trying to
sync, the phone reports a system error.

In the egroupware sync log is the following to be found:
when trying to use syncml 1.1 (its a phone setting)
I get in the logfile /tmp/egroupware_syncml.log, that a session is being
opened:SyncML[…]: starting new session for [on line 164
of “/var/www/…/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/horde/Horde/SyncML.php”]

in the older /tmp/sync are 3 files created which I attached.

I can not make out anything from those messages but I would appreciate any
help provided.

C:\Contacts.cdb means the db at the phone´s filesystem

I am puzzled by the paths that are in those files C:\Contacts.cdb because
egroupware is running on a Linux machine.

By turning on php debugging I found the following:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function bytes()
in /var/www/…/egroupware/rpc.php on line 120

You must have the multibyte extension enabled in your PHP. You should
find it under the name mbstring.

I hope you’ll have more chance than me with SyncML. It seems that I’m
the only one, here, which has a problem with Treo 700p (or using it at
all…).

the bytes function is defined in phpgwapi/inc/common_functions.inc.php:
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/branches/1.4/phpgwapi/inc/common_functions.inc.php

I have no idea why it’s not found in your installation, maybe you have a
mixture of old and new sources …

Hi all,

The only thing I know is that sync with N70 works only one way,
telephone to server and only with ./contacts ./calendar ./notes
hostadress http://www.youredomain.org/ egroupware/rpc.php. For me that
is enough alltough I do not understand it. Why only one way never solved
the problem. Also deleting a appointment or move will not be done by sync.

Oke, the E51 is a new model (I have ordered it last week) so things can
differ but I hope I will not have these problems as well.

(I am using Egroupware 1.4.003 rev 25.069 Apache2, PHP5)

Hi Ralf,

this means that something with my installation is messy because this
function is not in that file.
I checked out egroupware 1.4 instead of taking the gentoo packages and
synchronisation worked.
