SyncML Palm --> Blackberry = Trouble

A user changed from Palm to Blackberry. The Palm Sync worked great.

The blackberry sync client (I tried both Funambol and SyncJE clients)
will not sync contacts (calendar sync works). I set up debug mode and
it appears the Blackberry client is trying to use SyncML version 1.2
while the Egroupware server is using 1.0. Could this be it? Any
suggestions?

Portion of client debug:

1.2
SyncML/1.2

Portion of server debug:
1.0SyncML/1.0

As an aside, is there a method of exporting contacts from Egroupware as
VCards so i can import them into the Blackberry as a temporary solution
while I debug the SyncML issues?

there’s a patch implementing SyncML 1.2 for EGroupware 1.6.001 (not yet
1.6.002): http://k.noc.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6

We are currently working on integrating it into Trunk.

So you have 3 options:

use 1.6.001 (not recommended because of the security fixes in 1.6.002)
AND that patch
use 1.6.002 and adapt the patch
use Trunk

Jörg said last week he will adapt the patch for 1.6.002 very soon (thanks Jörg). I would wait for it if I were you, instead of using trunk in production.

As a side note, two months ago, I had problems with the BB funambol 7.2 plugin because it had a bug that prevented it from using the correct DB (ex. ./contacts). The dev. gave me a specially fixed 8.0 snapshot build that works very well egw 1.6.001 + syncML extensions. Therefore, I don’t know if the current plugin integrates this patch or not. If not, just tell me and I’ll give you my plugin.

I have the 1.6002 installed (i do an upgrade) and only works the calendar. Blackberry says that synchronize the contacts but no. I ask to funambol support 3 months ago , and they say me that they dont suppor sif synchrnoization. Only Vcard. What its happen to me?

I try the patch 1.6002, it says me 6 files error (because i dont have icalsrv installed). But dont work, when i syncohronize it dead with connecting… I update in setup aplications, i press find hooks and register. And i activate the acl for the user. i didnt modify any default preference of syncml.

I want only to work the trunk 1.6002 but dont works the contacts only calendar. Ralf 1.6002 without the patch works?

PD. my setup aplications say 1.6002 in phpwapi but in syncml says 1.6001 , its ok? i download the 20/07/2009 installation files only egroupware and egw-pear

NOTE: This is pre-release / beta software.

This version feels pre-release and seems to be missing some features
(scrolling is backwards, for example), but it works. I was able to sync
my contacts.

later, which will probably fix my interface problem (not tested yet).

Hi,

If in your “Manage Applications” menu, it says SyncML version 1.6.001, then you didn’t patch it correctly. It should display : 1.6.500jl .

The icalsrv error messages can be ignored, but if you want to avoid them, simply install it.

Don’t worry about the sif support in funambol. What you have to be certain is to use the 8.0.3 version corresponding to the OS version of your BB (John Thomas posted a link in this thread) AND modify the database names in the configuration (i.e. ./contacts).

Do you solve the problem? i use this funambol but i donwnload this other one that you posted.

Now with funambol 8.0.3 contacts goes ok, but if i put the patch 1.6002 i have “GENERIC ERROR” i put the syncml without patch. But i see that when i sync contacts, only pass the mobile phone and the name. The address or work phone … dont sync.

And if there is a conflict in calendar always wins the blackberry.

How to say that mobile work in egw is the field work in blackberry and all other fields?
