Synthesis SyncML client for Palm, anyone using it?

I’d like to be able to synchronize my wife’s Palm Treo 680 with
Egroupware. Does anyone here have any experience with the Synthesis
SyncML client for Palm, good, bad, indifferent?

One of my users has used Synthesis on an ordinary mobile phone and it worked quite OK. There were some issues with mobile phone numbers not getting imported into eGW, but everything else worked OK. He also lost some information from mobile phone on some reason, but I’m not sure why was that…

Synthesis has trial, so you can try it, but be sure to create some backup of Palm before

Synthesis has trial, so you can try it, but be sure to create some backup of
Palm before

Yes - and it’s already backed up because I’ve got synchronisation
working with Evolution already. It’s just that eGW may be better for
my wife than Evolution.

All of them

Sync with Palm Tungsten E with Synthesis client works most of the time,
but sometimes crashes randomly, don’t know why. After that, a sync from
client to eGW does not work anymore. I have to delete all data from palm
and reload it from the server. Not a good situation for my business,
because some data gets lost this way. I’m looking for alternatives
(client-side) but was not successful for now.

Hmmm, not encouraging really.

I already synchronize my Nokia E71 with eGroupware, it’s actually the
reason that I installed eGroupware on my SoHo Linux server.

I’ve just moved my wife from Windows XP to Ubuntu and I’m looking for
a way to synchronize her Treo 680. It seems to be working reasonably
well with Evolution at the moment but I was looking at alternatives.

I use Synthesis SyncML client on my Palm 650 and it’s great.

Several tricks though

Contacts sync nicely but reoccuring events (birthdays) get rejigged from “Whole day” to 00:01am to 11:59 pm or something weird . No big problem.
2)Contacts were trickier. Mine doubled up entries on several sync occassions so I went from 800 contacts to 3600 quickly… no good with 8mg spare Palm RAM
In the end, I could not get the Palm contacts into eGW any other way than to manually inject a modifed csv (exported from Palm Desktop) into the eGW contacts table using mysql commands.
Once my Palm contacts were in eGW, I formatted my Palm addressbook to zero and did a slow sync to load the Palm up over the air using Synthesis SyncML. It took a long time but once it was synced, it now stays synced.
Tasks.(ToDos)… the first few I created overwrote or modified a few older of my infologs (no big deal) but now perhaps the numbering is sorted out, each Task syncs nicely into a new Infolog.

One problem with Tasks is that it only syncs ToDos that you have created. This means if someone else creates a ToDo and delegates it to you, you won’t see it in your Palm after syncing. (Nor in your Thunderbird calendar, which I use as well)

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Elsewise I use Synthesis SyncML whenever I remember to, and it seems to be holding up well.
