Thunderbird Compatibility

I am considering using egroupware community edition but since I use Thunderbird fro my email I want to know if it Si possible to integrate Thunderbird into egroupware?

Hi Lazlo

I tinkered with T-Bird & EGW with very good results.

The TB extensions, such as Sunbird calendar and the address book also play very well, although when I tried it, I had to play with some settings.

The addressbook in EGW I find more appealing than the addressbook in TB; an aesthetic issue more than a functional one.

Thanks. So after I install Egroupware I just link it to Thunderbird?
I agree the egroupware email interface is good but i don’t have a lot of tie to tinker - need to work my business, not IT if possible. Thanks for your help.

Hi Lazlo

What are you using for your email server?

I have to make a correction; the softwares are Thunderbird & Lightning, not sunbird as I wrote earlier

For the other features, such as address book and calendar, you establish those in EGW, then use Thunderbird to connect TO the EGW server using CalDAV and GroupDAV

Hi guys,

I’m using Thunderbird 17.0.8 in combination with Lightning (calendar) and Sogo (addresses) on a Mac 10.8.4 with good results. Anyway, I prefer the webgui, as it gives me the full functionality in terms of collaboration with my colleagues. I’m working in a team context and clients such as Thunderbird are not helpful for me in order to get an overview of e.g. InfoLogs, events linked to addresses or projects.
