Update 1.8 -> 14.1 - Update Possible? Any Gotchas?

Ralf, All,

After having a good run with 1.0, then 1.2, then 1.4, and finally to 1.8 on
my production boxes, it is time to update. Both boxes are Archlinux/mariaDB.
Will an update to 14.1 work or is the version difference to great? Anything
special needed?

Thanks for any tips or advise. (finally getting old enough to ask first

eGroupware 14.1 requires pear-horde packages for Mail to function. This
may make it a non-starter for me, if I can’t get pear-horde to stop
crippling PHP Entirely.

Update to 14.1 is no different from previous updates.

If you are not using packages, you need to visit setup >> check
installation, it will tell you what to change in your php enviroment
(mbstring.func_overload=0) and which new PEAR packages to install.

Hi,

eGroupware 14.1 requires pear-horde packages for Mail to function. This

crippling PHP Entirely.
Installing PEAR packages either with pear install or via operating
system packages only copies a bunch of php file in pear directory. It
can have no influence on everything else, unless you have other software
installed requiring these packages in a different version.

There’s must be something else wrong in your installation.

Maybe you should elaborate a bit about what "crippling PHP entirely"
means …
