Upgrade from 1.8 to 14.1

Hi
I tried to update 1.8 to versione 14.1, alla seems ok but when i go to login with the user e password of my active directory receive this error:
HTTP ERROR 500
PHP Warning: require_once(/var/www/html/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/adldap/adLDAP.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.accounts_ads.inc.php on line 14, referer: http://servizi.iessonline.com/login.php?phpgw_forward=%2Findex.php

You have not answered my question on how you attempting the update
(packages or archives, in-place or new install, …).

If not comming from 14.3 (latest), you absolutely need the
egroupware-epl-compat package or egroupware-epl-contrib archive, to be
able to upgrade!

If you dont need any of the deprecated apps (eg. SiteMgr, KnowledgeBase,
…), you can remove it after the update AND updating your
header.inc.php file.

I want to update in place with archive zip files… i found this file in https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/wiki/Release-notes-16.1 but i dont’ know if i can download the package epl

for install the community version.
I use the SiteMgr, KnowledgeBase, Wiki and I would like to keep them … if there are new apps that do the same thing i can also remove them.

Now i’m in a test enviroment … before try in produciton server…
My project is:

update egroupware to the last version
move the installation in an new ubuntu server (now is an older fedora installation…work fine but is very old )

Restoring a 1.8 backup on latest 16.x installed fresh, worked for me
every time I tried. Probably best to make sure you have epl-compat package too.

For in-place I would not be so sure, unless there is some command-line utilities to do that.

I want to update in place with archive zip files… i found this file
in https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/wiki/Release-notes-16.1

Grab the latest one from

https://github.com/EGroupware/egroupware/releases/

But do NOT use the Source ones, as they miss the vendor stuff - cant
remove them from GitHub

for install the community version. I use the SiteMgr, KnowledgeBase,
Wiki and I would like to keep them … if there are new apps that do
the same thing i can also remove them.

project is: - update egroupware to the last version - move the
installation in an new ubuntu server (now is an older fedora

Ubuntu 16.04 with PHP 7.0 would be my recommendation anyway, but in that
case do yourself a favor and do a clean package installation.
Add additional egroupware-epl-compat and deprecated apps you want to
continue using (SitrMgr, KB, Wiki, …).
Rsync your old files directory to /var/lib/egroupware/default/files,
restore EGroupware’s database dump in setup and run the update.

Restoring a 1.8 backup on latest 16.x installed fresh, worked for me
every time I tried. Probably best to make sure you have epl-compat package too.

For in-place I would not be so sure, unless there is some command-line utilities to do that.

It’s more tricky, as you need to make sure you removed all old files
appart from header.inc.php!

Hello,

I report my success in upgrade 1.8.0.2 to 16.0.2, right now;

I used a ubuntu as a middleman like Ralf described.

the outdated and the new one are in Cpanel/CentOS shared hosting.

So I did:

Installed a fresh install in ubuntu (my local PC)
(adding repository, and installed with epl-compat package)
Installed the modules I use (today contribs)
Downloaded a backup from 1.8.0.2
Uploaded and restored this backup from 1.8.0.2 in the /setup of the
fresh install
Verified the installation
Tested the records
Copied the data files (stored by egroupware) manually from the
outdated to the fresh one files directory.

And after all, I just installed a new one fresh using softaculous in shared
hosting.
And make an export backup from the new one upgraded in my ubuntu, to the
final environment inside my shared hosting.

It works very well.

Try to install in a Ubuntu 16.04 + php7

downloaded from git the last version of egw + contrib
launched the setup from https://mydomain/
go to the Setup/Config Admin Login
try restore the backup of the old egw 1.8

Receive this error:
Invalid SQL: REPLACE INTO egw_config (config_value,config_app,config_name) VALUES (‘utf-8’,‘phpgwapi’,‘system_charset’)
Table ‘egroupware.egw_config’ doesn’t exist (1146)

try to use the apt-get tool to install it.
Is the way I did. You need to install also a compat package to be
compatible with 1.8.
