Upgrade to the last version How To

Hi
i want to upgrade to the last version my egw ce version from 16.9.002 to the last 17.1.20180130.
How to ?
I have ubuntu 16.04 and mysql
Don’t find any guide online for this .
With the old version , download the package and overwrite the files…

Hi andrea.soc,
I did in this way:

1. backup the database and copy the files of old installation to an other directory;
2. extract file .zip or .tar.gz of the last version of egroupware in the document root of the istallation;
3. copy the old header.inc.php in the root folder of the new installation;
4. open the browser and go to the setup page (example: http://www.website/egroupware/setup)
5. login and update the installation.

You do not want to overwrite your existing files.

Mini Howto

• rename old directory
• uncompress new release
• in browser, /egroupware/setup (of new release)
  • generate a new header.inc.php file, (using current database and credentials)
  • wait for database to update (back up database)
  • update your app version
• now log into your new install to see if anything is broken

Please do NOT an archive-Installation!

That is perfectly for doing a package-installation. So in the future you can simply update your EGroupware via apt upgrade.
How exactly you have to migrate depends on your environment. If you have any questions or problems during the migration, post them here in a new post.

one think, apply chmod to the header.inc.php after copy the file in the news installation.
