Upgrading EGW 1.8 -> 14.1CE: App and ACL

I’m a bit confused by the new interface.

1.8 have the user and group interface that display the enabled application
for that users, and for some application also the ACL.

Because of the name change, and becuse i’ve played a bit too much with
’emailadmin’ app, i was forced to do:

insert into egw_acl values ('mail', 'run', -512, 1);
insert into egw_acl values ('mail', 'run', -513, 1);
insert into egw_acl values ('emailadmin', 'run', -512, 1);

to be able to access the email app.

This is a feature of the ‘‘pro’’ version? I supposed was only group
management (group creation, membership management, …) not also App/ACL…

PS: even doing that, i’ve not found the way to access the 'emailadmin’
application…

No, you can set ACL for groups in stock community version, just
right-click on group-name in tree and select “Access control” in context
menu. In first select box you choose “Group … run rights for
applications”.
PS: even doing that, i’ve not found the way to access the 'emailadmin’
application…
Right click on any user and select “mail account” in context menu.

Users can create personal mail accounts without need for emailadmin
run-rights.

Nope, as admin you can create one account valid for all users, or a
group, or N specific users …

Ok, sorry, i was sue i’ve had added ‘emailadmin’ for my group, but probably
i mis-click something. I’ve diuble check that and now i can confirm that
emailadmin was added. Sorry.
Now, i can confirm, i can right-click on userst and start the email
wizard…

…but still, sorry, i was no able to find how i can setup ‘‘generic’’ data
to be able to enable accounts for every users.

There’s no ‘emailadmin’ app, and i’ve not found a way to add that
’‘genric’’/template data to groups.

Hi!

I’ve been using EGroupWare since v. 1.4 as I remember. Well 14.1 is way too different for me and I’m going to implement it very carefully.
I installed it via SVN and ran into the same problem with emailadmin - despite all ACLs I just can’t start it. But I have the following in my php.log:

An error happened (egw_exception_assertion_failed): CreateObject(emailadmin_ui) file /var/www/html/egwdvj/emailadmin/inc/class.emailadmin_ui.inc.php not found!

So I think I should dig more to find the missing file…

It seems that there is no file emailadmin/inc/class.emailadmin_ui.inc.php
I checked in zip file from sourceforge too.

Please help me to run emailadmin.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am testing a fresh install of EGroupWare 14.1, not upgrade from 1.8. I installed it via SVN but looked for the file in a fresh zip archive downloaded from Sourceforge.
Accounts are stored in LDAP if this matters.
I need to set mandatory mail profile for all users including IMAP4, Sieve and SMTP settings. I also need IMAP/SMTP password to be the same as for EGroupWare. I noticed that without emailadmin when an user changes password e-mail account becomes inaccessible and IMAP/SMTP password needs to be set again.
I hope all this is possible as it was in 1.8 and someone will show me the way to achieve this.

EMailAdmin can no longer be started on it’s own!

It only implements “mail account” context menu entry on users or groups.

I just removed emailadmin/index.php redirecting to no longer existing
emailadmin_ui class.

It’s been a while but I have to face the problem again.
Thank you very much for your advise.
If I try to create an e-mail account valid for all users I think this way I’ll create exactly same account (same user/pass for IMAP4/SMTP) for all users.
I need to set an IMAP/SMTP/Sieve server for all users but e-mail client should provide the username user logs in with (followed by domain as I use virtual mail domain) and the password of the logged in user. If the user changes E-GroupWare password the mail client should provide the new password because accounts stored in LDAP are used for IMAP/SMTP too.
In 1.8 this is the default mail profile. Is it possible to create similar mandatory setup in 14.1?

Sure, have you looked at our tutorial videos, they show how you use the
wizard to set up a mail account, eg. for your self.

To store the newly set up account you end up in regular edit dialog.
Here you make the following changes:

available: change it from yourself to all
editable: set to no (as you don’t want regular users to change this
account)
Identity: set up a default signature with placeholders
allow further identities: can be yes or no, depending on your taste or
company policy
IMAP Login: change how imap username get constructed and add domain below
IMAP Admin: optional add admin user/password (required to set acl for
other users or timed vacation notices)
SMTP Type: specify used LDAP schema
SMTP: specify if username/password from session should be used for
SMTP too (or specify one here)
Aliases and Forwards: user specific (!), so you need to right-click on
correct account in setup

Thank you very much for your helpful answer!

I have to admit I didn’t look at the videos but searched community documentation.
Setting up e-mail profile the way you described is a little bit non-traditional but I’m sure it’s a matter of habit. Anyway I need some time to get used to it.

This is not the correct forum topic, but I can’t find the menu to switch to traditional idots template. Probably the videos may help and I have to look at them.

I hope all the team will continue to develop the great open source version of EGroupWare. I’ll do my best to resume my stale work on Bulgarian translation soon.
