Hi Jose,
I make some efforts to make egw-oracle ready (and is in my personal
todo) but I was encountered some hard problems and my dedicated time
expired.
i’m realy glad you care about the oracle db, as it is definitly a door
operner into the more professional world.
I ask you if eg2.0 support different backends because if you are
remodeling the data model you can take in considerations certain
dbspecific things (as objectsnames (<=30), reserved columns names,
datatypes (text in mysql -> clobs in oracle),…
As noted before, ocacle would become a backend which has to fullfill an
interface. At the end the outcome of an backend is an instanceof
Egwbase_Record_Abstract:
http://www.egroupware20.org/wiki/index.php/EGroupWare_2.0_base_classes_for_records_and_recordSets
If in there are properties of the record, which are problematic for a
certain backend the backend simply needs to map them internally.
I will take a look soon at the backends concept on eg2.0 codebase.
As we are currently in the design phase of history logging and
sophisticated concurrency management, it would be great if you could
provide some hints if and how oracles solves this problems generally.

Again many thanks!
