Hi Ken,
problem was caused by older Netdrive was detected on having no
user-agent string. Recent versions added that and special handling for
Netdrive, which they still need, was not triggered.
It’s fixed now in SVN and will be available with next package or by
replacing following file:

Hi All
I am experiencing some disturbing data loss when using EGW as a group
file host over webdav. Users are accessing the EGW file store by drive
mapping using Netdrive, as recommended by the EGW admin manual. If
they are working on a document in MS Office, and click save or exit,
the program exits normally without any notice of errors, but when they
go to open the document later, it either has no content, or the
contents are damaged. I confess that I do not know where to start
investigating the cause.
I have not experienced this yet using webdav on Mac OSX or Linux, but
this is a very real problem which makes it very hard to sell folks on
upgrading or continuing to use EGW.
I did not like the fact that EGW defaults to using webdav to manage
files because it has a lot of overhead and makes network backups very
slow, but I have tried over the course of the last few years to get
users to accept the product so I could push for a move to the
professional version.
The only other choice I see is to somehow convert my file storage back
to the native file system and then share via SMB or SFTP rather than
WEBDAV - this is a massive project I do not need on my list right now.
This file breakage is proving to be a deal killer and I have been
mandated to look into migrating to Sharepoint or similar - I know that
system also has its share of problems, but management is still
convinced that Microsoft is the best solution.
I don’t expect support for the free version - that is not the point of
this post. The EGW group needs to ensure that the basics are reliable
and robust in the community edition as well as the commercial version;
it is very difficult to upsell when the fundamentals are not
functioning properly.
regards
Ken
