Bug in icalsrv.php(?)

Hi!

Since some time I cannot use the ical server with the following error message:

The line number refers to the first occurance of “WHERE () AND” (note the
empty brakets). When running this query in an interactive db session
with “WHERE (1=1) AND” it works just fine (although I probably won’t get
correct results).

Is there any chance to fix this?

I posted awhile ago that the lead for our ical team has not been seen or
heard from (by me anyway) for some time.

I am not able to test this problem as he could as he is/was still perfecting
the code as far as I understood it.

I can suggest that you try something that I think many miss in their setup.
Are you linking (in Linux a sym link) from:

egroupware/calendar/inc/class.boical.inc.php ->
egroupware/egwical/inc/class.boical.inc.compat.php

I use it this way and all works fine for diverse users (on 1.2 branch) on
diverse clients. I have 3 fanatical Mac users on the egw icalsrv.

Sorry I am unable to be of more help, but I just am unable to spend much
time on the icalsrv project lately so this is the best suggestion I can come
up with.

PS. if you search this list, you would/could have found this answer from
previous postings (maybe in the users list).

is just too important!

I can suggest that you try something that I think many miss in their setup.

btw: Ical server broke around two weeks ago and worked fine before.

I use it this way and all works fine for diverse users (on 1.2 branch) on

Now as Sunbird 0.3 finally arrived this is getting more and more
important!
I hope, Ralf will fix the ugly resource bug as well…

Hi,

I’m using egw 1.2.105.
I was insterested to use icalsrv, so I’ve downloaded contribs form my
egw version
I’ve installed egwical and icalsrv (but not modified root icalsrv.php)
I hope this instructions are correct.

Then I’ve gone to setup in order to install icalsrv application.

Well, that’s great.

But when i try to go to http://server/egroupware/icalsrv.php
I can authenticate
But I give the same (first) error than Adi Kriegish (first post).

Ralf said this is OK on CVS version… Is possible to update 1.2.105
egwical & icalsrv?
Does it works or I need to work on cvs trunk?

I’ve copied the three modified files from SVN to my 1.2.105 egw.
Now I’ve got the same error than last Adi Kriegisch (see below).
On my logs I’m seeing a session error, I think this session handler
error is associate with SQL error, because soinfolog::search is unable
to obtain info_owner value

Hi Peter,

I’ve set permissions to my user to be able to use icalsrv.
I’ve got the same error showed on my last message.

Can you look you PHP error log in order to see if you get session
handler errors?

I think there’s a serious bug in keeping (at least) the domain. I saw this
and reported long time ago, but it seems that a multidomain installation
triggers the error better than a one-domain installation (though I didn’t
test this in a one-domain and 1.2 recently). In my current test, being
logged in not with the default domain, I enter the url
(http://…/icalsrv.php/default.ics), I’m prompted for user and password
(which SHOULDN’T happen, since I’m logged in) and entering user (not
user@domain) and password, I get the sql error and when I go back to the
previous screen, I find I’ve been taken to another domain (I think because
the default domain is searched instead), possibly even logging out,
depending on if the user exists on both domains. It’s the second time I
reply because of this

Can you look you PHP error log in order to see if you get session
handler errors?

Sorry, but there are no session errors in the Apache error.log (there are no error-messages at all if I try to access any of the icalsrv ics-files)

This is my current status:
access default.ics: Get the error message where the missing info_owner results in an sql-error
access events.ics: Works, but delivers an empty result
access tasks.ics: same error as default.ics

Hmm… my user definitely has the right to run icalsrv (for three reasons: (1)
it worked fine some weeks ago (2) icalsrv actually runs the query for dates
and todos and (3) becauseI just double checked). The user may run any
application installed btw…

Your problem is somehow equal to mine: the empty brakes in the query… Imho
there are several possibilities to fix this:
The worst one is to replace every occurance of () with say (1=1); this will
definitely lead to inconsistent behavior.
Another one could be to gain an overview of all the arguments that should be
readily available for the query… and then check if they are and what one
could do to add them…

You can’t do this, because in () has to be user information, cat_owner
information.

A activated the log, but it shows no error while accessing an ics-file. But I can see other errors from other egw-applications, so generally it seems to work.

For now, I will have to go back to 1.2.105 and wait, until this is fixed in the HEAD.

logged in not with the default domain, I enter the url
(http://…/icalsrv.php/default.ics), I’m prompted for user and password
(which SHOULDN’T happen, since I’m logged in) and entering user (not
user@domain) and password, I get the sql error and when I go back to the
previous screen, I find I’ve been taken to another domain (I think because
the default domain is searched instead), possibly even logging out,
depending on if the user exists on both domains. It’s the second time I
reply because of this

As I understand you are prompted for login because your session can’t
be verified. I’ve been investigating the code, and qhen icalsrv.php
calls class.bocal.inc.php there’s a problem with the session
verification, I think it’s not passing user information.

This is the problem, because It can’t verify you, so It prompts you
for a password.

May Ralf can put some light in this bug.
I’ve tried to follow the code in order to know why is buggy, but I
can’t figure out.

Ralf, can you give us an advice?

Your latest patches on SVN hide the SQL error, but It’s still wrong,
because It can’t SELECT calendar entries for user.

Hi Paco,

I have no idea about iCal Server. The patch ignores a not set user-id
(which the search function requires) and uses the current user instead.

As you have the same problem with infolog, I guess iCal Server fails to
pass a user-id.
