Composer 2.0 issues with Pear respository on egroupware upgrade

Tried to update egroupware with composer 2.0 version

“composer create-project --prefer-source --keep-vcs egroupware/egroupware”

It did not complete and I was given the error
"The PEAR repository has been removed from Composer 2.x"

What’s the solution to make it compatible with composer 2.0

There is currently no solution other then a downgrade with: composer selfupdate --1

Problem is that the Horde components we use for mail are only available via Hordes PEAR repository. Unfortunately Horde seems pretty dead currently, which is the reason they have not updated their components to Composer.

To support PHP 8.0 I already forked most, but not all, components yet.

My current plan is to fork them all and move with the new release to Composer 2.x.

master is now updated to Composer 2.x

I will probably backport it to 21.1 for the next maintenance release, to not have to deal with two composer versions in development …
