Icalsrv, Sunbird - Great Job Ralf, Everyone!

Ralf, and the rest

The work you guys have done on icalsrv is nothing short of fantastic! I

just thought I would try sunbird to test the waters. Looked at the wiki,
popped over to /egroupware/icalsrv.php/david/list.html to make sure
everything was working, entered …/default.ics in the location box
and wow, up pops the calendar in sunbird in the blink of an eye.

One question. In the sunbird tasks pane, I don't see any tasks.

Shouldn’t the default.ics have brought the tasks in as well? Regardless,
this is great. Thanks.

I just checked todo sync functionality with the latest lightning (sunbird
add-on for thunderbird) and the todos are indeed syncing up.
Two things ive noticed in the past:

the todos would not showup until i ‘unchecked’ and the ‘checked’ the hide
completed tasks checkbox. Once i did that, everything showed up as it should
have.
Any custom entries (not todos) will not show up. If i recall, not even
tasks set as ‘phone calls’ would show up.
Just thought id mention what ive seen… and yes, it is amazing work being
done on the sync between eGW and lightning/sunbird! Very helpful indeed!

I can confirm David’s problems. In egw 1.4 with version 24746 of icalsrv.php
and Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 with Lightning 0.7, the tasks do not show up,
regardless of any amount of checking or unchecking the "Hide Completed Tasks"
box or reloading the calendar. We had to revert to version 23426 of
icalsrv.php, which works quite well. What version of egw, icalsrv.php, and
Tbird/Lightning are you running?

I also second the great work being done with icalsrv and groupdav!

I cant seem to recreate this prob
Heres a run down of what i got going on including some ramble-on testing
steps i did.
I did an svn update on the latest devel of eGW about an hour ago. I also
downloaded the Feb16 snapshot of lightning (16-Feb-2008 19:13). Thunderbird
version (version 2.0.0.9 (20071115).
I deleted the eGW calendar from lightning and then recreated the calendar.
connected without error. At this point I started to do some testing with a
todo. Heres what I did:

marked todo as ‘done’ in eGW - PASS
Launched TB, verified that todo was marked as completed - PASS
Closed TB - PASS
Signed back into eGW and reopened the previously ‘done’ todo, set status
as ‘not started’ and logged out - PASS
Launched TB -Pass
todo was NOT listed in the sidebar when in mail view - FAIL
Switched to task view -PASS
todo IS listed in task view but shows as being striked out -FAIL
Closed TB - PASS
Logged into eGW, edited todo as being ‘ongoing’ with 0% completed. -
PASS
exited eGW, launched TB - PASS
todo was NOT listed in the sidebar when in mail view - FAIL
switched to task view - PASS
todo liste in tesk view, still striked out - FAIL
todo staus has been updated to 0% - PASS
closed TB, logged back into eGW -PASS
noticed that the todo has the COMPLETED FIELD had a completed date.
Removed the completed date. - PASS
exited eGW, launched TB. - PASS
todo DOES show in the mail view, todo side bar. - PASS
switched to task view - PASS
todo no longer striked out. - PASS

If you actually read all that rambling your probably thinking 'great…
still doesnt solve my problem tho!'
I dont know what else i can do, but ill keep on hacking to try and recreate
the prob. One thought that came to mind was that I’ve done this all on my
linux laptop… Ill try windows and see what that gets me.

OK, I had some time to do some more investigating. My problem is that we’re
running 1.4 here. In my apache2 error.log file, I got:

boinfolog_vtodos.export_vtodo(): UMM_UID2UID NOT SUPPORTED YET: ERROR

export_vtodo() checks the egw version. If it’s 1.4 using UID2UID, it throws
that error. I fixed this by changing $uid_export_mode to UMM_ID2UID and
$uid_import_mode to UMM_UID2ID in icalsrv.php.

Haven’t had any problems with it on my test server (no duplicates, etc.), but
it raises a few questions for me:

Is UID2UID more efficient than UID2ID/ID2UID?
Is infolog 1.5 compatible with egw 1.4?
Is egw 1.5 stable enough for production use (100-200 users here)?

The problem is definately not Lightning. If you call via a browser the tasks.ics file, you won’t see the tasks either. If you get default.ics you only get the calendar, but no tasks entries. So icalsrv.php does not send them. So Lightning has no chance to display something what it doesn’t get.

I used the trunk version of icalsrv to test either. Same problem.

unfortunatly you need the trunk version of infolog, as I had to add a uid
column to the infolog table, and we dont do schema updates in released
versions.

Is it enough to copy over the infolog folder into the release, or will I mess it all up?

Schema updates is something what I connect to LDAP. We have the users in LDAP, so I have to expect an LDAP-schema update in the new release (when?) ? Can the trunk version cooperate with the stable release on the same DB (SQL + LDAP) then?

Is there an easy way to hack icalsrv to present the tasks?

Hi Ralf,

I do always exactly what you say.

I went to the link you’ve posted, and did a “save to file” on the download link and copied all to the appropriate place in the egw/infolog/… dir. The result is what I’ve posted and does looklike the output of my stock 1.4.002 installation. The system is a Debian/etch with Apache2 and php5 (for syncml) and not the production system but with access to the production mysql egw-database.

So the only changes that have to be applied are the files you posted? Or do I have to update the icalsrv either?

sorry to bother you. But it doesn’t work. If install the infolog of the trunk (ver 1.5.001) I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: read() in /var/www/egroupware/infolog/inc/class.boinfolog.inc.php on line 185

Regardless if I start it on the php4 or php5 machine. Infolog has been installed with the setup menu of egw. So it droped all infolog tables in the db an recreated them during installation.

Is infolog the only thing what has to be updated in a 1.4.002 release?

That version is already to new, to be installed in 1.4.

Just install the commit I send you the link and it will work, or use a
full trunk …

so here is, how i got tasks synchronization between egroupware 1.4.003-2 and tbird/lightning 0.8 working:

grabbed recent egroupware release (1.4.003-2) and copied over after extraction the trunk rev. 24391 of infolog (see below…).

setup etc like normal. usage of icalsrv via /egw/icalsrv.php/default.ics. tasks working.

but now my question: why do i have to manually copy into the recent setup a 7-month-old version of some changes of the infolog to get this essential feature working?

Thank you very much for this thread and the solution it provides. I really more and more like this software as it more and more becomes the software that I searched for during the last couple of years.

SUMMARY: The only problem that is still open on my side is that no tasks created from EGW web interface are sent to Lightning via tasks.ics or default.ics.

After installing and setting up the 1.5 version from infolog it works fine for me as well.

I’m using eGW 1.4.003-2 + infolog from the described source here in the thread. On client side I’m using Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 (20080213) and Lightning 0.8 (build 2008033120).

Now I can create tasks at Lightning and see them in eGw as well. This is really a great job!

The only problem that I have left by now is that a todo-task created under egw doesn’t show up in Lightning.

EGW shows three todos:

Summary: from thunderbird
Details: lets try!

Summary: and now from EGW?
Details: moment!!!

Summary: from Egw 2
Details: test

Hi,

I will soon (probably tomorrow) start working on CalDAV for lightning. I
will probably find time to look for the tasks too.

When calling

only see the task created inside Lightning:
