Hello everybody.
for Collabora Online / CODE an update to version 4.2.0 has been released.
The long development cycle and the leap from 4.0 to 4.2 indicate this: a lot has happened.
On the one hand, parallel work was done on Collabora Office for iOS and Android (see release notes below). Here the technology for Collabora (LibreOffice) Online was “reused” and the further developments/progress was again integrated into Collabora Online by the developers.
On the other hand the implementation of the sidebar known from LibreOffice/Collabora Office required some effort.
The basis Collabora Office (LibreOffice) was updated from 6.0 to 6.2, which has been maintained by Collabora for a long time.
The result is very impressive. Version 4.2 is in every respect a further development in the right direction and is fully suitable for business use. Even (and especially) spreadsheet users should now be able to get very far with the online version.
We will only briefly mention the essential improvements here. Further details can be found in the release notes from Collabora linked below.
Updated optics
The appearance has been changed (symbols) and further optimized. All in all it now looks more homogeneous and sharper.
Speed
The speed of the entire application has been significantly and noticeably improved. These are mainly advances that come from the work on Collabora Office for the mobile platforms.
Sidebar
The now implemented sidebar now offers many more setting options and functions that were previously not available.
The sidebar can be folded away, just like the menu bar so far. So more screen space is available when the sidebar is not needed.
Spreadsheet
A lot has happened in the area of spreadsheets. Please have a look at the very detailed release notes of Collabora.
Calc: Zoom
The zoom, which was previously available at 200%, has been expanded by further levels.
Cross-document copying
The possibility to copy content across documents is now implemented. Even between different document types!

Collabora Online is available as Installation option in EGroupware 17.1 and 19.1. For in-house use, licenses can be easily obtained from the EGroupware Online Shop.
Without local installation, the use of Collabora Online is also possible by using the Collabora Online installation in the EGroupware data center. Collabora Online as SaaS from the EGroupware data center can also be obtained via the EGroupware Online-Shop and the license can be installed in the local installation.
