No matter what I do I can’t seem to get Holidays to work correctly. I just installed a fresh copy for testing and everything defaulted to German. I changed my location to US and all my Locale preferences for date/time etc including the country. Holidays for Germany are still displaying in the small calendar on the left in light blue.

I tried adding the ICS file from Thunderbird for US holidays - made no difference.

I would prefer to just not have any holidays whatever and just start with a blank calendar. Also the holidays are not showing up on the main calendar - only the small one off the the left in light blue.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich.

Only there?
What is displayed in the calendar?

You can configure what is displayed in the calendar in the user settings:

The colored backgrounds in the calendar header and date selector are always displayed. If you really want to get rid of them, you could try setting a “broken” path to an empty or non-existent calendar file in the configuration. Try that…

Recommendation:
Take a look through all user settings to get an overview.

Ok, it finally started working the way it was intended I believe. Now my calendar (on the side) is filled with light blue marks and they are all US related. I tried to create an .ics file with nothing but a time zone in it and it seemed to work but everything got extremely slow to the point that my browser was saying page not responsive. I struggled to get the setting out of the field but then after that nothing was showing in the little calendar.

After logging out and back in all the light blue dots were back.

You had asked if they are displaying on the main calendar - no they are not. I know there is a setting to allow that. I wish there were an option to turn the holidays off. I really just want to use the calendar for my stuff and not see all the little blue dots!

I suppose one could create an .ics file with an event far in the past and maybe that would do it?

I tried adding an appointment to a day on my calendar and the small calendar did not show that appointment on that day - so am I to assume that the small calendar is ONLY holidays? Does it not give you an overview of your personal calendar like Outlook or others do?

If that is the case then I guess the holidays are of little consequence. I was thinking that I could see an at a glance view of MY calendar on that small calendar. Maybe not.

Thanks,
Rich
