Hi!

I noticed that some eGW applications show the menu option “Placeholders”. When i click on that option, it will show me a list of “placeholders” which seem to be related to the different elements/fields in that particular application. The only information given is: “Replacements for inserting project data into documents”. Does anyone know how this can be used and how to create “placeholder documents” and how to access and use them?

Cheers.
/J.

Hi Jasseq,

that ist simple. An example:

Make a document with placeholders (Test Adressbook.odt13 (8,3 KB)) and save it in the filemanager: /templates/addressbook.
Then go to the adressbook, right klick on a contact and choose insert in a document. The uploaded file should appear there…

Maybe you need to make an adjustment:
Preferences/File Manager/Collab Editor Settings/Merge printopen handler
if you dont have a online office. But it is great with Collabora online office1.

In preferences in some modules you can/must adjust some paths.

There are lawyers or logisticians who use it for their business. You can also create serial letters or emails (with saved .eml).
Or have your email signature created automatically (Not translated, sorry.):

Try it

Hi Stefan, thanks for your reply. Adding .odt file in the templates folder did the trick! I have an issue though. When I try it for Project Manager, the “description” field is not formatted at all, the Wiki/html syntax is instead put into the document file, which looks wrong to me and makes the placeholder document unreadable. Is it possible to make the system to format the placeholder document for Project Manager in the same way - so it looks identical as in the description field in the web interface, with all the formatting?

Hi Jasseq,

please create a new post for the new problem. And please mark this topic as done.

It would be good if you could attach the export form. Then I can try this. It should also work with formatting.

Greetings
Stefan
