Hi everyone,
only now I noticed (after having used “outdated” egroupware for a while), that marking text with left-mouse is not functioning anymore. Thread Ctrl copy seems to be closed.
I am getting more and more annoyed+angry about the increasing trend to have web-apps break conventions and particularly window and key handling.
For how long is it “normal” to left-click and drag for marking text and then press Ctrl-C to copy into the paste buffer? This works for over 30 Years now (unless, of course, if over a link).
Then what legitimates you to introduce something else (Alt+drag, Ctrl+drag, …) ?
This is very_bad for at least three reasons:
(1)
I’d like to concentrate on my work and not on learning different random key bindings per app. Particularly if it is basic functionality like copy-paste.
(2)
It is often impossible to implement without breaking other things: e.g. on my system (Linux with KDE) the Alt-Key is reserved for moving windows around. That woud mean that I am to change my whole desktop behavior to be able to copy-paste from egroupware? Ridiculous!
(3)
It does not even work! As has been mentioned in the above-cited thread, Firefox doesn’t respond like that while Opera (still?) does.
I am desperately hoping that this will be reversed a.s.a.p. as I consider it fundamental to a good and frictionless user experience!
Best regards, Volker
